Crease brushes

Crease brushes are extremely important and I've got a couple here to show and talk to you about...

Sima E45

This one is probably one of my favourite crease brushes as it's well tapered and easy to blend the crease colour in using windscreen wiper motions

Ecotool's highlight

Again another tapered brush that provides a really nice crease application and is a good size for travel. 

Angled shadow brush

The angle in this brush makes it easy to place the eyeshadow but you can't really blend it that well. 

Wiko's smokey eye shadow brush

This brush is the cheapest out of all of them and I really like it for a more dramatic crease, because of the concentrated dense bristles.

Real techniques 201

This brush isn't worth the money and although I tried to like it, it's not as soft as other brushes and I feel like there's a stiffness that prevents the proper application of eyeshadow.

Base shadow brushes

Hello, 

Today's post is on my favourite base shadow brushes, that pack on the base colour of an eyeshadow look. 

Real techniques base shadow brush

This is a great brush for packing on eyeshadow and also slightly blending out the colour. 

Ecotool's blending brush

This brush is a great travel size and picks up product easily blending it out and placing it on the eyelid and packing on the colour.

Sigma E60

This brush is a little more flatter than others and is definitely for placing colour on the lid, which is really good.

Blending brushes

I love a good blended eyeshadow look, and these are awesome brushes to achieve that look!

Real techniques crease brush

I love this brush, the bristles are very dense. Which enables you to blend really well and also create a good shape to your eye look as the bristles are compacted and not spread out.

Sigma E25

This is a classic blending brush and really helps with blending which produces a great blended out look and improves the look of a eye look, particularly a smokey eye.

Smashbox blending brush

I love this brush so much and it's my favourite blending brush! Enough said.

Smashbox flat brush

This is great for applying  one colour and then blending it out over the lid.

Detailer brushes

Hello,

So I like to smudge eyeshadow or liner out, along my upper or lower lash line, and that's what I love to use these brushes for. 

Real techniques detailer brush

This brush is really precise and is my favourite to create really smoky eyeliner or achieve a look like that, it's really tiny so you can preisely smudge precisely.

Smashbox pencil brush

This is a little less precise but achieves a better blend for eyeliner and is also good to create a precise cut crease or highlight.

Foundation brushes

Hello,

So foundation application is a massively important part of any makeup routine as it's the base layer and if this is wrong then it can throw off the rest of the makeup applied over it... These two brushes are the ones I would recommend if you like to buff and blend out your foundation.

Real techniques buffer brush

This is my favourite of the two, but I like them both, I think it's just because it's bigger and achieves the blending out of my foundation faster that the other brush. This is a great brush for blending and achieves a flawless base to work from.

Real techniques expert face brush

This brush is good and achieves the same flawless base as the buffer brush, but I feel that it takes more time to achieve this look as the brush is smaller and more compact, I'd imagine that it's good for cream blush or bronzer as well.

Blusher Brushes

So here are some of the blusher brushes I really love to use...

Real techniques cheek brush

This brush I soul use for my cream blushers, I absolutely love this brush it's awesome and great at blending out cream blushes to a good finish.

Smashbox blush brush

This brush I use on an everyday basis to apply my powder blush, it's a great product and really does a good job at blending the blush and feels soft on the skin.

Real techniques blush brush

This brush I feel is slightly big for blush and I tend to use it more for bronzer, but it's a great product and really works well to give a really roses natural glow to the cheeks. Because it blends the product out really well. 

Real Techniques 301 brush

This brush is the opposite of the previous one and is for more precise blush application, I like it better for highlight because I feel that it's doesn't blend the product as easily. But I like this brush a lot and I think it's the only one I would recommend from the bold metals collection.

Highlight brushes

Being slightly obsessed with highlight I really like all these brushes and would say that they're all my favourite...

Real techniques fan brush

I love this brush and I like the face that it prevents me being too heavy handed with my highlight and it's really nice at blending out the highlight. 

Real techniques setting brush

I love this brush, I use it to blend out a highlight setting powder under my eyes and it's a great size for highlight as it allows you to be precise.

Real techniques 301

This brush fits really well along the top of my cheek bone and I love it to apply powder. It's great!

Real techniques contour brush

I love to use this to blend out/ place cream highlight and although it's not quite what it was designed for that's my favourite way to use it.

Favourite contour brushes

These brushes are all really good and I as I love doing a subtle contour virtually everyday I thought I'd share my thoughts about them with you. 

Real Techniques 302 brush

I like this brush but, it's not my favourite and for the price I feel like it's not necessary to buy this, it's slightly to thick to use for a subtle contour and although it looks very attractive with the rose gold packaging I pass on this.

Real techniques contour brush

I like this for precise contouring and I like using it for that, but I still feel like this is a little bit to small where as the other real techniques brush was too big. With this brush I prefer to use it for highlight or to blend concealer under my eyes. 

Smashbox contour brush

This contour brush is great for contour and I particularly like it for contouring my nose, but again it's not my favourite, but I like the fact that it came with a kit, because I this it's handy and a good travel brush.

Real Techniques Sculpting brush

This is my favourite contouring brush of all time, it's great and is perfect for my face shape and I like the angled aspect of it. Because I think that it makes it better for blending down the face.

Wilko Stippler foundation brush

Hello,

So the Wilko's brushes are awesome I'd decided to give it a whirl. And it's awesome, the fibres are synthetic and so I use it for blending out my liquid foundation and it does a great job at that. Oh and a side note I'd love some foundation suggestions. But moving on you can use this with anything from cream blushes to powder bronzer, it's a great multi purpose product. So it's very versatile and does the packaging remind you of anything?!? Real techniques perhaps?!?

But this brush only costs £4 which is awesome for a stiller brush and it's sambaing quality for the price and if you don't have any brushes like this then I would suggest trying this on and just in general check out the Wilko brush line, it's awesome!

So basically I love all these brushes, they're all so soft and awesome, my only annoyance is that you can go and see them in a shop. But I've have them for two years now and they're still really good and I'm really pleased I purchased them.

F10 - £16.95

Having just looked up the prices I feel like they've gone up a lot since I ordered mine two years ago, so I'm going to hesitate to recommend these, because yes they are rally good, but at that price I'm not so sure.

Wilko's brushes

So these brushes are so good for the price, the powder brush was £4.00 and the eyeshadow brush was £3.00 which is a bargain because they are such good quality brushes and they apply product really nicely. The brushes are very soft, I have a feel they look similar to the real techniques brushes, but I'm not sure which came first. I really want to try some more from the Wilko's line because they look like they have some really nice brushes for cheap affordable prices. I would highly recommend you check them out.

Eco tools eye brush set

So these brushes were probably the first brushes I ever bought. And I still use them sometimes, they cost £14.99 and for anyone who's starting out with makeup brushes I would highly recommend these to use. They're so soft, and they really work excellently, each of them have names on them to help you know which to use for what, but I tend to ignore that slightly and just use them randomly. I'm pretty certain that the bristles are synthetic and so you can use them with cream and powder so that's also useful. This is also a lot more affordable than the real techniques brush set, and in a way I think I prefer the brushes in this set than in the real techniques set. 

So overall I would definitely recommend this to anyone and I definitely think that you should try them out and I want to test some of there other kits, because they're a lot more affordable than other brush kits, but they're still extremely good quality.

Smashbox Brushes...

I got this smash box brush set in the christmas sale last year and I have to be honest it's amazing, I would highly recommend these brushes, but particularly the eyeshadow blending which is simply awesome for blending colour out of the crease and makes applying dark eyeshadows so much easier. I've had a long time to trial these brushes and so I think I can give you my honest opinion. The brushes are soft and the sleek sliver handles are nice compared to the normal line which is black. I also got a great brush case with them that's extremely useful, so next christmas check out smash box for their christmas sets because I've been so happy with these brushes.

Perhaps the only one I don't really use is the gel liner brush but that's only because I don't have any gel liner at the moment to use with the brush, but I will update you on that when I have the gel liner, oh and anyone who has any recommendations on the gel liner front it'd be very helpful if you could let me know in the comments.

Random brushes

So this brush review is a bit of a compilation of brushes, because I only have one of them so I decided to lump them all together and review them all in on post. 

Firstly the Primark Blush brush, was £1.50, personally I find it a little large to be a blush brush so I use it for powder instead, it's really good at powdering and blending out blush or bronzer if I've applied it a bit too liberally. It's a great brush, really soft and I would definitely buy another.

The Topshop blush brush £6.00 I was hoping it was going to be a good quality brush because I like all the other Topshop makeup, however I find this brush quite scratchy on my skin when I'm applying blush and for that reason I don't use it as much as my other blush brushes and I wouldn't recommend it.

The Too faced angled liner/brow brush came free with a set and it's just the perfect tiny brush to create a think line on your upper lash line, or to fill in your eyebrows, perfect brush.

Then the body shop kabuki brush was £16.00 which is the most I spent on a single brush before, but it was worth it, because this brush is absolutely amazing, and I can't fault it, it's great for applying mineral makeup, powder foundation and just normal powder I love it.

Finally the benefit brush which comes with there boxed powders, I've been using this for contour and it's been working really well, and because it's not a large brush, I don't find myself going overly crazy with the contouring.

Real Techniques brushes

So I'm going to be reviewing the real techniques starter set £21.99, Core collection £21.99 and the Blush brush £9.99. As you can see from the prices they're not the cheapest brushes available, I will be reviewing some cheaper brushes in the future, but these particular brushes are widely reviewed and raved about, and rightly so. Despite the mid range prices, I think that the brushes are brilliant. 

They're synthetic, so can be used with cream, powder and liquid products. I also want to highlight that you should experiment with the brushes, although they all have names, I would suggest that you try them with different products. The brushes are all soft and perhaps my only complaint is with the core collection, I've yet to properly use the pointed foundation brush. So if anyone has any tips or pointers on what to use that for, then I'd like a heads up. 

So basically if you have a bit of money extra then I'd highly recommend that you check out the real techniques brushes because they're really amazing quality and improve your application of makeup. As well they're readily available in Boots, Superdrug and in online stores.
