Marks and Spencers Rosie collection

So everyone has been talking about the Rosie collection for Marks and Spencer's. Since I needed a new powder I bought the one with the collection, despite intending to get the highlighting powder. But I passed on the highlighting powder mainly because when I swatched it in store, I didn't think apart from the packaging that it was anything specially so I went for the translucent powder which I was a lot more impressed with. The product if finely milled and really sets my makeup well and is great for touch ups. 

And can we just take a moment to love the packaging, it's really gorgeous isn't it?! I wish all makeup had that beautiful rose gold packaging, but then I probably wouldn't have appreciated it as much.

Revlon haul

Hello,

So for todays haul and little review, I went to revlon and got this neutral cream eyeshadow palette which I've been loving over the past week they're really nice and creamy, but they set really well and don't budge. However I'm less pleased with the powder. It's go a lot of shimmer particles in it which I really don't like especially when you can actually see them on the face. So I think I'll be passing it onto a friend.

MUA probase prime and concealer powder

So I really like this powder and it's only £4 from MUA, at first I was a bit apprehensive given the colours, but they come off really sheer with barely a tint of colour and basically it's just a beautiful baked powder and it sets my makeup, but it doesn't give the wear of my bourjois powder, but it's such a great price that I can compromise on the wear time a little.

Bourjois Java de Riz poudre

Hello,

Bourjois java de riz poudre is a repurchase product for me, the powder is heavily perfumed and isn't so sparkly as some highlight powders. Personally I don't use it all over my face but if I want a bit more of a glow then I'll blend it over my cheeks and sometimes down my nose as a bit of a highlight.

Benefit The Pore-fessional Agent zero shine

I'm not amazed at this powder, it works but it's not as good as my S&G one heck of a blot. I think that it's nice to try it out in a kit but I wouldn't go out of my way to try it if it wasn't in a kit, I also think it's a little fiddly and difficult to get the actually powder out of the pot.

Ways to highlight....

Some times the number of different ways to highlight is overwhelming, there are so may different ways to do it, so I'm going to try and cover most of the ways and their purpose, but if I forget anything then please point it out in the comments or link a post of your own!

Illuminating primer - This can be great for tired dull looking skin, because it can give you the lit from within look and general contains light reflecting particles so that you sort of get a glow from under your foundation. This is a useful an quick way of including highlight into your routine. Some good examples - Bourjois happy light illuminating primer, Becca illuminating primer.

Liquid highlight - This can be mixed with primer or foundation to achieve the result of the Illuminating primer, or it can be used on specific high points of the face to achieve a glow to the skin which is a little more pronounced and give more dimension to the face. Some good products - Mac luster drops, Benefit high beam and Revlon Photo ready highlights. 

Cream highlight - This can be used under or over foundation, and is used for targeted highlighting, it's less subtle than liquid or powder, but is great to give a stunningly obvious highlight. Some good examples - Benefit watt's up, Topshop glow, Sleek highlight palette.

Powder highlight - This is good for directed highlighting and is easier to place and blend out compared to liquid or cream, it can be build up to be bold, or dusted on the high points to give a subtle glow for every day. Some good product - Topshop highlight powders, Soap and Glory way to glow, Becca highlight powders. 

Highlighting powder - This is a more subtle version of powder highlight, and is usually used on a dull skin tone, to brighten up to face and give it more dimension, it's also good if you're feeling ill or tired to inject a few more hours of sleep into your skin. Good Products - Bourjois Java powder, Ben Ney   Banana powder.

Highlighting foundation/concealer- This is similar to the highlighting powder, it just injects an all over highlight, but looks a little more natural as the product seeps into the skin more than a powder. Good products include - Rimmel Wake me up foundation, L'Oreal lumi magique concealer/foundation and Maybelline lumi touch concealer.

One Heck of a Blot...

So today I've got a review of one of my favourite powders ever! This is a translucent powder so in theory should work with every skin tone, I love it on my fair-tanned skin! It's great and really sets cream products perfectly, and can be reapplied throughout the day and won't leave a cake-y look or oxidised to an orange colour. It comes with a sponge which I don't particularly use, but it's useful in an emergency and it has a large mirror which is perfect for doing your makeup on the go.

The packaging is also really cute and it's worth the money despite being £12.50 I still think that it's worth the money because it's such a great powder, I'd say it's better than Mac MSF and that used to be my favourite powder!

Collection sheer loose powder

Here's my review of a powder I've been loving recently, mainly because my skin is so oily all the time, this is a great product that sets my makeup and maintains a shine free look to my skin! Which is awesome. You do however need to be weary of over applying it because it can make your makeup look ratchet and that's not a look I'm going for!

I think the packaging is good, because not a lot of product comes out of the holes plus I leave a powder puff over the top to prevent any explosions of powder. This powder was only £4.59 which is great for 20g of powder!

17 stay time pressed powder

This powder has a tint to it and provides a matte full coverage. It's a smooth finely milled powder, the packaging is sleek, but unfortunately doesn't have a mirror which is always useful particularly in a face powder. The product claims to stay put and personally I find that I need to blot or reapply through out the day, but definitely after 5 hours. It comes in several colours but only lighter shades, unfortunately as with most drugstore products there are a limited shade range. 

Overall this product is great quality and for £5.49 it's definitely worth a try although it's not as nice as perhaps the Maybelline dream matte powder, which is my favourite, but I haven't seen it in stores for a while.

Soap and Glory kick Ass Concealer

So today I bring you a review of the best concealer in the drugstore, apart from the collection concealer of course but that's a whole other post. This concealer comes with a translucent powder, an under eye concealer which is a salmon colour and therefore brightens and a blemish concealer which is tinted slightly green to counteract redness. The concealers are extremely creamy and blend really easily, but for longevity the powder is needed to set the product in place, or else I risk looking like a grease ball *Sorry for that mental image* 

The powder is also of good quality, it's translucent so in theory should be alright for any skin tone, but I do find that it tends to look a little white if I go in with it heavy handedly so I advise caution. 

The price is a little high in terms of Boots and Drugstore products, it's £10 which is quite steep, but if you look at what you're getting, two concealers (similar to the Bobbi brown corrector and concealer duo) and a translucent powder, then I think you're getting quite a good deal, because the quality is definitely there. 

All in all this is perfect for travelling as it's got everything you'd need in a small compact, it comes with a mirror and a powder puff, so in theory your base makeup could be done with the one compact if you skipped primer! It'd be even better if it was say £7 but it's a nice product and I'd wait till you can buy it which an Offer, which Boots have frequently.
